Indoor Air Quality Testing

The indoor air environment of buildings is often under estimated in terms of the potential for causing sickness. The indoor air we breathe has a direct link to our health with the US EPA ranking indoor air quality in the top five environmental risks to people. The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) have set a number of interim national indoor air quality goals as a result based on health responses such as respiratory, skin and eye irritation, headaches, lethargy, tiredness and even more chronic conditions including cancer.

Envirodetox offers a specialised indoor air quality testing service for all built environments in Perth and Western Australia.

Envirodetox focuses on the following indoor air quality related parameters;

  • Particulates
  • Combustion gases
  • Thermal comfort
  • Ventilation
  • Mould and moisture sources
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s)
  • Other gases
  • Air conditioning hygiene

Commercial auditing involves the use of calibrated equipment with a report to assess the concentrations of measured parameters against recognised guidelines and standards. An air conditioning hygiene assessment when combined with air quality data completes the overall understanding of workplace compliance.

The residential indoor air quality audit focuses on observations of the above and further testing where required. This also includes moisture investigation, highlighting sources of toxins in and around the home and a complete summary of recommendations to improve occupant health from the indoor air.

There are very few studies to indicate the combined effects of many pollutants to human health. Health effects sometimes take years of constant low level exposure to appear and when they do appear are often extremely hard to recover from and can be associated with multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) or chronic fatigue syndrome.
